Understanding Your Building’s Electrical Power System - 3 Hours
Understanding your Electrical Power System provide participants with an understanding equipment, systems, and technology in their buildings electrical power system. It begins with the utility supply and works its way through the various levels of electrical distribution voltage. Various types of motor control, and electrical distribution and components will be explained. This is a general familiarity session to give facilities managers, non-electrical staff, building maintenance staff knowledge to effectively manage and make decisions about their systems. Basic electrical maintenance will be discussed. The course is not intended for the electrical trained. However, it could be a good starting point for an electrical person new to the building world. Be assured the course is taught with a minimum amount of electrical engineering jargon or math. Let us help demystify what is in all those metal boxes and why do they make that noise.

Electrical Systems for Hazardous Locations - 3 Hours
Intended for non-electrical or new to the industry electrical designers, Electrical systems in hazardous areas have unique features and requirments that should be understood by those involved in the design of facilities, processes and systems of hazardous facilities such as refueling stations, waste water treatment and pumping stattions, industrial factilities. This session will first cover the defintion of a hazardous area under the Ontario Electrical Safety Code and provide a broad overview of area classifications and associated electrical requirments.
